Know you and the other
I read a book called Surrounded by Idiots by Thomas Erikson for this lesson. It was about DISA behavior types, which are four different ways people act and communicate. They are red, green, blue, and yellow. Here's what they mean:
- Red: Dominant. They are focused on tasks and results. They
like to have choices and control. They don't care much about feelings or
relationships. To deal with them, you need to be clear, and direct, and avoid
conflicts.
- Yellow: Inspiring. They are outgoing and friendly. They
like to have fun and socialize. They respond well to stories and emotions. To
deal with them, you need to be enthusiastic, flexible, and supportive.
- Green: Stable. They are calm and loyal. They like to have
harmony and security. They value open communication and trust. To deal with
them, you need to be respectful, patient, and independent.
- Blue: Analytical. They are logical and careful. They like
to have facts and details. They are good at planning and problem-solving. To
deal with them, you must be accurate, thorough, and data-driven.
According to the book, I'm primarily yellow and green. That
means I'm sociable and easy-going, but also reliable and cooperative.
